Solar glass imports fall as domestic coating capacity comes online
Anti-reflective coated glass from Indian plants now supplies more than half of module demand.

Shipments of coated solar glass into India dropped for a third consecutive quarter, according to trade data compiled by industry associations, as new domestic lines reached stable production.
Module manufacturers say local supply has shortened their inventory cycle from three months to about five weeks, freeing working capital at a time of thin margins.
Supply security matters more than the last half-percent of transmission. That is the trade we are making.
Quality remains the question. Buyers report that transmission figures from new lines are competitive, but they are still building confidence in long-term coating durability under field conditions.
What to watch next
The next test will be pricing. If domestic glass holds its quality while undercutting imports, module makers expect to lock in longer contracts, which would in turn justify more coating capacity.
